As a signatory to the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, through the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI), has been organising the International Waterbird Census. Nature Tanzania has been supporting these important events since January 2023 by bringing its members and volunteers to participate.
In complying with the signed African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA), Tanzania organized and conducted the January 2023 International Waterbird Census (IWC). The purpose of the January 2023 IWC was to collect information on waterbird numbers in accessible wetlands within protected and unprotected areas of Tanzania.
